Sinto ~ Germany

Right on Brother. 1972 Philips

Sinto's debut is an interesting multi-national rock-funk album, similar to the American band Rare Earth, but released during the heyday of the Krautrock scene. Most of the songs are fairly straightforward, but the instrumental sections keep things hopping in a progressive manner. And speaking of that, the one instrument that stands out is the heavy use of violin (from Hannes Beckmann, who it appears would be the leader), which is unusual in this setting, and creates a nice contrast to the usual pseudo-hippyisms that abound (like the lyrics of the title track - woof!). Sinto went on to release three more albums, that presumably are more commercial Latin styled efforts, if covers and song titles are any indication. I have yet to hear them to date.

Priority: 3

3/6/25 (new entry)
