Symphonic Metamorphosis. 1970 London
Fascinating nine piece horn rock band formed by (then) active members of the Detroit Symphony Orchestra. The horns are exquisitely performed, though the rock sections are a tad more restrained and pedestrian for a band with these kind of quals. Still, the guitar and organ work is efficient. The vocal harmonies have a 60s vibe to them.

That's a pretty decent Zagat styled review and mostly represents my feelings about it today. For a band with this kind of background, it does rock pretty hard especially given its 1970 vintage, a year that was very transitional in America.
Priority: 3

I saw this band back in 1969 here in Michigan and I loved their blend of classical and rock. I agree that their rock sounds a bit stiff sometimes but the arrangements are superb!
