Katamaran, Germany

Katamaran. 1977 Plane

Need to review my LP copy.

Cafe Florian. 1978 Plane

Cafe Florian is their second album and my last revisit resulted in a +1 after back to back listens. Primarily due to the depth of the compositions, which I didn't pick up on before. A full sextet, all members get a chance to shine in an ensemble setting. Wolf Burbat is the clear leader, as not only does he write the songs, but he provides the primary lead instruments, that of flute, synthesizer, piano, and Rhodes. But the others don't just sit back and buy a ticket to watch. There's plenty of electric guitar, saxophone, bass, drums, and a dedicated percussionist as well (from Kollektiv!). A very solid album for the category.

Footprints. 1980 Plane

Need to revisit.

Priority: 2

10/8/09 (new entry); 6/8/24
